The Education Program in Earth and Marine Sciences is a component of the Research School of
Earth Sciences (RSES), which is one of the top-ranked Earth Science institutes in the world.
Earth Science is a wide and interdisciplinary field of science that includes areas such
as geochemistry, geophysics, oceanography, as well as emerging disciplines of research such as
biogeochemistry, high-pressure physics and paleoclimatology.
The Program offers undergraduate study for a diverse range of interests, preparing students for
careers in a range of scientific fields including resources companies in both the mining and
petroleum industries, environmental agencies in government and private sector, geoscience and
marine science consulting companies and science education fields.
An undergraduate degree in Earth and Marine Sciences also provides a pathway to higher degree
research at Australian or overseas universities.
