  Base Courses Description
Semester 1 ENVS1004 - Australia's Environment


Comments: Chemistry CHEM1101* is desirable.

Australia's unique environment has been shaped by the origins of the continent, its geological history, past climatic changes, and the impacts of Aboriginal people and settlers.
 
Semester 2 EMSC1006 - The Blue Planet This course provides an integrated understanding of Earth as a system. Lectures provide an essential scientific perspective on critical global change processes. Practical sessions offer hands-on experience with global information systems. A major field excursion introduces students to methods for environmental measurement and observation.
Spring Session EMSC1007 - Introduction to Earth Science in the Field This Course uses the ANU Coastal Campus at Kioloa as a field base for an intensive introduction of 2 weeks duration in studies of modern and ancient processes in Earth and marine sciences.

Requisites: SRES1004/ENVS1004 or EMSC1006


* CHEM1101 (Chemistry 1) is desirable.
A bridging course is available in February (i.e., before semester) through the Department of Chemistry. Registration for the bridging course is open from October 2008.
